Ran across this fawn on the back side of our place it thought it was hid from me, we stopped and watched it for a bit, it finally felt comfortable enough just to lay down and wait for momma to come back, we went on our way it remained in its hiding place

Great Horned Owl, a friend of mine told me about his owl, we think he or she is sick or wounded,
we are hoping it gets well enough to make it, we have contacted our local wildlife agent as there are no bird sanctuary's close by will just have let nature take its course and hope it makes it.

Debbie and I took a drive down to the Missouri River took a few pictures on the way,
the pecan grove caught my eye. I shot one in color and some in black and white I liked the results.

took a trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico, went to old town and there were some young people dancing for a festival for a local church, it was fun to watch. I insisted we go up the mountain which is 10,000 feet, and looks over the city wanted to go at night, on the way up we had a bear cross in front of us, my first wild bear, couldnt believe it stopped and let me take a picture, got up to the top it was about 35 degrees, and blowing about 30 mph I had a tee shirt and shorts, about froze coming from 90 degrees in the valley below,
I was having trouble with the wind I had a tripod but it was still moving the camera some I didnt want to do it but I had to hold onto the tripod so it didnt fall over. If I would have had enough clothes I might of stayed up there all night it was beautiful.

Shot a few pictures of Suz, she loves the water and is a great retreiver. She is 5 years old and has lots of energy. I would make her set and stay, then throw the dummy and she would wait till I gave her the command to retrieve and then she would hit the water. I think she would do this a thousand times

was on the way home and crossed the stream that winds through our farm and saw this photo op, went by got the camera ready guessed on the set up knowing it would be darker down in the creek bed and started shooting.
was pretty pleased how it turned out.

Salisbury High School boys team made it to the quarterfinals with a record of 27-1, unfortunately they got beat last night by 2,Salisbury starts 2 seniors and 3 sophmores, they had a great season. I had not taken many indoor sports shots before, I used a 70-200 f2.8 lens, had to use 1600iso ,and 1/400
you can see alittle noise in each shot, my camera doesnt take real clear shots at the high iso settings,
overall I was pretty pleased

The sunrise is coming up over our timber, I love watching the sunrise come up over our property,
the hay bales is on the neighbors place I liked how the sun was lighting up the trees and hay bales,
and the deer I caught them in our creek that runs through our place. I had the camera set on 800 iso and it has a bit more noise than I would like but still I think it is a interesting picture

Here are a few I took last week end, nothing special , the sunset was pretty, hoping for some deer pictures that night and none came out so, I was walking back to the house and this was what I saw.,
the geese were on what is called the Dalton Cutoff. thought it was kind of neat how they were on the ice in front of the hunting blind as if to say you can get me.

I had heard about some Christmans lights in Callao, so Christmas night we drove up there and wow talk about lights, very nice display I wasnt very well prepared for pictures didnt have a tripod to hold the camera steady, so these are all shot hand held, I was pretty pleased at how they turned out.

Merry Christmas, the pictures in this slide show were all taken in 2010, I continue to learn more about photography and my camera. I think 2010 was a good year, I have taken some interesting photos and hope the new year provides new opportunities. I take pictures of what I see, its not complicated its really pretty simple.I guess you could say I love the simple things. My kids always ask and they get frustrated with me

what I want for Christmas, my answer is usually just want my kids to come home spend time with us and be happy and healthy. Thats it, That Simple.

took these tonight just below our house, I decided to go to the blind at about 4, little after 5 this buck comes out with a doe, they are the clearest but considering it was getting dark, I was using 1600 iso, and the last picture was using 1/2 second exposure, it was almost dark. this is a beautiful buck, was glad to have the opportunity to get these pictures, you can tell people about getting close to a magnificant animal like this but
if you show them the pictures they have to believe..

I watched a interview with a famous Austrailian photographer Peter Lik, he was ask if he knew if he had a good picture as soon as he took it he said sometimes he did and sometimes he didnt, but he did say
that there are times when you experience a special moment and time when things are just right for a good photo, it is a unbelieveable feeling. Im not a professional but I know when I took these photos that it was a special moment and I did my best to caputure it, it is hard to describe it but I know just exactly what he was talking about because I have felt it.

Our oldest daughter Kathryn is Asst. Coach at Harrisburg HS they won their District Championship game last night, this just about says it all about High School Athletics

I entered a contest for a local phone company's directory cover picture, they allowed you to enter four this was one of the pictures I sent in. Saturday at the annual meeting this picture won, I won a small digital camera but what is really cool is my pictures will be on several phone books in the area.

The sunrise is from this morning, the sunrise itself isnt that special, but I was trying to capture the rays of the sun, it was changing fast and actually was better when I first saw it but by the time I found a good place to stop it had changed some, the lightning pictures were from a few days ago, It wasnt a real good show,
but when I started getting good, it started to rain and it the lightning was too close to be standing outside in.

Great Spangled Fritillary,
We took a ride around the farm last night and found what I call a butterfly bush,
havent found the exact name of it yet, but any way had this butterfly on it,
the butterfly is a Great Spangled Fritillary,

We were in Branson the week of June 7, 2010 while driving we noticed these clouds, at first I didnt think I wanted to take the time to stop and take the pictures glad I did, the darker one I played with it some , kind of looks like something out of a
movie, or painting, the others were as they happened, this is what the national weather service had to say about them
From the National Weather Service:

A storm system moving across the Ozarks on Monday morning produced widespread interest for more than just the thunder and rainfall it produced. As the system moved across the region, the balance of instability aloft and a relatively stable low level airmass helped to produce what was likely a potentially new form of clouds now under review by the World Meteorological Society or WMO. The cloud type in question has been named, "Undulatus asperatus".

I took this picture two years, ago on the way to work one day, the flag is in one yard the windmill in another and the bins in the back ground, the windmill was in a friend of mines yard, so I called him and told him I took a picture I wanted to share with him so he gave him his email and I emailed it, and started emailing he and his wife some of my pictures, I would usually get a nice comment back on which ones they liked, Dr. Leatherwood was a friend of mine for many years and he passed away this week I would like to dedicate this picture to his memory, he was a good man and I will miss him.

this is from a couple weeks ago, but since I posted the pics of the wood ducks in the tree thought would post these, I was driving to the other side of our farm and while crossing our creek I saw these wood ducks flying up the creek I didnt have the camera or old clothes on so I went to the house and changed grabbed the camera
I had marked the ducks close to a big cotton wood tree, I needed to get close
to them with out spooking and try to get a few pics I got right up on them and snapped these without them even knowing I was there. I have seen them a couple of time since, Im hoping they raise some little ones.

Pair of, you guessed it, Wood Ducks, Wood Ducks are the only duck I know that actually nests in a tree, I have seen them going to and from a tree many times but never acutally got a picture of them in a tree, I was on my lunch hour and took a drive to a nearby wetlands looking for nesting ducks and got the bonus of catching some movement in this tree, I sure could have used more lens, I used all I had and
you can at least tell they are ducks.

This creek runs through our farm, I saw the doe on the sand bar went to the house got the camera and she waited till I got back. Later in the day I saw three laying there but they were gone before I got the camera ready.

Took these 3-10-10 at 9:30 pm, used a tripod and kept the shutter open for 30 seconds using the timer on the camera so as not to touch or move the camera.

Can you see the buck in this shot, this deer was about 150 yards away normally
would be very clear at this distance, you can see how hard it was snowing.

These were taken on our farm Sunday 2-21-10 in a heavy snow, I was using a blind
so I was in the dry, the deer and turkey were feeding heavily trying to get prepared
for what Im sure to them was a very long night and has been a very long winter. I
know its probably just me I like the photos where you have to look pretty hard to see the subject I think it adds a since of mystery and a sense of how hard winter really is for wildlife.
